Patient Participation Group

Poundbury Doctors’ Surgery has an active Patient Participation Group (P.P.G.)

It has its own website, which can be found at www.poundburypatients.org or you can contact the group at poundburypatients@gmail.com.

What is a Patient Participation Group (PPG)?

Each GP practice in England should have a PPG. At our surgery, we have a PPG that meets regularly with practice staff and representatives from the NHS.

The work of a PPG involves a range of initiatives, including:

  • Representing the views and interests of our patients and the local community
  • Two-way communications between the practice and patients
  • The recruitment and organisation of a volunteer group, which we also refer to as “Friends of the practice”
  • The development of various health promotion projects

Why is this important?

PPGs enable patients to get involved with their GP practice and help to improve and shape local services. The group is made up of patients registered at the practice, and members of staff usually attend meetings. This means we can work together to make sure patients are put first and can influence any decisions that are made about healthcare and services.

How to get involved

Anyone can join the PPG here at Poundbury Doctors Surgery - you can email the group at poundburypatients@gmail.com or visit the group’s website.
